What is Acoustic Shock Wave?

Shock wave therapy is an innovative and highly effective treatment for cellulite.

Cellulite is the dimpled-looking skin that you see on your thighs, arms and tummy and the curse of 85% of all women over twenty one. Cellulite happens when the fat cells push up against the skin and tough, long connective strands pull down and create an uneven surface or dimpling.

Shock Wave for PAIN MANAGEMENT in Saffron Walden

It’s Non-invasive

Acoustic Shock Wave Therapy can be used to treat longstanding pain and discomfort.  A shock wave is an acoustic energy wave. It is created outside of the body by compressed air. A hand-held device is moved over a conductive gel on the skin to send waves of energy to painful areas in the body. These mechanical pressure pulses – known as shock Waves - work by re injuring tendons and tissues, which in turn stimulates blood flow helping problem areas to heal

It’s also great for chronic shoulder pain and hip bursitis, inflammation around the outside of the hip joints, which can cause people discomfort on one side when they lie down.

Shock Therapy has two main modes of action that help with chronic tendon pain.

First the shock waves work to desensitise the nerve endings, which will often reduce some pain immediately.

Secondly, the treatment initiates a pro-inflammatory reaction within the body, increasing blood circulation and metabolism, which "re-boots" the tendons failed healing response.

Shock wave therapy is most suited for people who have chronic pain (ie greater than six weeks) which haven't responded to other treatment.

It’s Risk Free

Shock Wave Therapy requires no surgery which means there’s no chance of infection and there’s very little risk of tendon rupture, which may occasionally occur with steroid injections. There’s no need to take medication. It’s a wonderful technique to consider if all your other treatment options have failed.
