What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a fantastic treatment that removes dead skin and the peach fuzz on the face. It is a firm favourite with models and celebrities to give them a red carpet glow.

This beauty treatment is a more sensitive option in comparison to Microdermabrasion and provides excellent results. A small scalpel designed for the face is used. The blade is held at a 45 degree angle to give safe and effective exfoliation.

The main reason for Dermaplaning is to remove the dead skin that builds up on the face. This can be used as an anti-ageing facial as it can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

A by product of this skincare treatment is the removal of the peach fuzz hair that covers the face. This is great if you wear make up. The peach fuzz stops your make up being applied smoothly and can lead to a dry clumpy looking effect. When you remove the dead skin cells and fuzz your make up will sit on your skin perfectly.

Removing the dead skin also allows your products to be absorbed in to your skin much more effectively. So any anti-ageing serums and moisturisers will become much more powerful.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

The simple answer is NO. The peach fuzz facial hair is very different from the rest of your body hair. It is called vellus hair and has no pigment and stays very fine. When it is shaved it will grow back but it will not be any thicker or darker than it was before.

Can I have this treatment if I have acne and will it make my acne worse?

If you have very active acne we wouldn't recommend this treatment. However if your acne is not open sores than this facial can be very very beneficial. It can help remove the dead skin and balance the oil production. It provides a deep cleanse and when combined with other treatments such as light therapy you can see significant improvements.

What happens and how long does it take?

At our Beauty Salon we pride ourselves on giving you the very best treatments. This Dermaplaning facial can help improve the aging process, exfoliate your face and is suitable for everyone including those with sensitive skin.

You will relax in one of our comfortable treatment rooms. Your therapist will give you a skin consultation and then begin your facial. A surgical grade scalpel will be used to gently remove all the dead skin cells and peach fuzz from your neck and face.

We will then place our award winning Celluma Light Therapy device over your face. This helps with any redness and provides a heat based treatment which will help you to naturally produce more collagen, essential for improving fine lines and wrinkles.

Your facial will then be finished with a nourishing Vitamin C serum followed by a DNA repairing SPF to protect you from any sun exposure.
